Believe it or not, I was in Kampala for the entire month of February with no traveling anywhere else! Wow. Although I enjoy the traveling, last month was a much needed period of stability. The time also allowed me to focus on my commitments with the kids here in Kampala, such as the girl’s Bible study. March saw some renewal of the madness with two trips out of Kampala, including one to Kenya this week.

The Saturday Program continues to be a wonderful tool for fellowshipping with our students. My students in the Karate class persist in showing a keen interest in developing their skills. They have now learned all the basic moves and are beginning to learn the first kata (form). We are hoping to perform the first kata together for the Hope Alive! talent show next month.

Last week, Megan, Richard, and I traveled north to visit our Adjumani and Gulu sites. We undertook the immense task of getting a new photo of each student, as well as updating their information in our files. Between Adjumani and Gulu there are nearly 300 students, so, needless to say, we were quite exhausted at the end of each day. However, the opportunity to see all the students was well worth it. The Adjumani students especially, because of their remote locations, rarely receive visits from us. We were able to talk with them, solve some problems, and even give them some small “gifts” to remind them that they are loved. (Thanks to Mrs. Milliken’s class for providing some of the “gifts”!) The road to Adjumani looked like a minefield for a third of the journey, however, we were blessed that we traveled before the rains will begin to wash away the road. The rain started a-coming during our last few days of the journey.
