Long Overdue Update

Since it has been so long since my last post, let me take a moment to update you on some of what is going on in my life and what is happening with the Uganda scene.

The most descriptive word for my life over the past few months (and really the past year) has been CHANGE. In the past few months alone I have navigated the changes that come with a new job, a new apartment, and many new unknowns about the future. In January, I began working at Park Avenue Christian Academy as a Jr. High teacher. I feel blessed to have this job at a time when so many are searching for employment. Additionally, I am excited to actually be able to use my undergraduate degree in history to benefit others. (I am teaching history and Bible classes.) I am also still pursuing the idea of attending graduate school to study International Relief and Development. I have been accepted into a master's program at the University of Denver for next fall. However, it remains to be decided whether I will attend school this fall or wait another year.

One thing that has not changed, however, is my passion for Africa and missions/relief work. I WILL be returning to Uganda this summer for a short trip to continue the work I was doing with Hope Alive!. I plan to be in Uganda for 4-6 weeks during June and July. During that time, I will also be leading a short-term team from Park Avenue Baptist Church that will be working with the students, mentors, and families of Hope Alive!. Please pray that things will come together smoothly as we plan the short-term trip.

I do have to raise my own funds through WorldVenture to cover the cost of my trip this summer. I currently have about 80% of the funds that I need. If you are interested in contributing towards my financial needs, or if you simply have questions about the short-term trip, please email me at holly.philpot@gmail.com.

Thanks you so much for your continued interest and prayers!
